If it isn't, sorry.

Basically, I got SupCom the other week, the game itself runs fine but all the movies/videos in the game run horrible slow.

Got all the updated nVidia drivers, and the newest DirectX version for XP

I spoke to an employee for GPG (Gas Powered Games, the company that makes this game) and was told that they don't use any codecs, so that's out of the question. The videos are in .sfd format, don't play in WMP but play in VLC and QuickTime

My specs:

Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2GHz)
Inno3D GeForce 7600GS 256MB
1G PC3200 RAM

Anyone know what could be wrong? I can't play the campaign mode because of these extremely slow videos icon_sad.gif

Cheers

all movies use codecs - evne if it's in house.

Never the less, have you tried setting nvidia "frames to render ahead" to a lower number, such as 1?

Are you doing anything else with your computer while you are playing? What I'm going after is slow access time somewhere.

Have you played the movies using quicktime...or QT alternative? Do you get the same choppy video?

Videos play fine in VLC and QT, I know you might be thinking about WMP, but an employee from the company told me that they don't use Media Player or it's codecs, they use Sofdec
and nah not doing anything else

I'm thinking your CPU is shirking you good. From what I can find, SC is "extremely" CPU intensive (yeah yeah yeah...) and is probably bringing you down even though the movies seem separate. My advice would be to oc your processor by 400MHz and see how it goes; if it gets any better.

My system is pretty much the same, except AM2.

3000+ single core
1GB PC6400
x1600 pro

I'll go get the demo and give it a go...playing with the clock speed. But I am just failing to see how it would affect the ingame movies....

Anybody else got some ideas?

Well, a friend of mine actually has a lower spec processor and the videos on his version works completely normal

He has:

AMD Sempron 2800+
GeForce 6600GT 256MB
1.5GB PC3200 RAM

Just an idea but check your RAM consumption in task manager while the movie is playing slow. Your friend has lower specs but more RAM so it may be that the system is running out of RAM to buffer into and using swapfile (eugh).
Also when the movie is playing is your HD light going or not?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

HD light?

OH! actually, on the official SupCom forum, I posted a report about my system from this tool a member made, and my video card and sound cards IRQ numbers are both the same (16) and I was told that it could be the reason why my HD playback is so slow.

How do I change my IRQ numbers?
