Oh, this is grand. If building an OS from the ground up only cost 1-3k, then I doubt even Microsoft could hose it up.... I wanna track that guy down and beat him with a carp.

So...give him linux, preconfigured to look like windows, give it a nice installer (Fedora and Ubuntu both have easy ones), create new icons and themes, rename it "blueOrb", prepackage it with WINE so that it can at least try to run windows .exe files out-of-the-box (can't do much better without packaging it with crossover office which costs money). Done. You're allowed to sell it, it looks like XP, it can run some windows files (probably most common ones), it's free which means 100% profit for the seller, and it's almost virus-free.

Do I get a cookie or something?

What the fuck is the point in paying someone else to do your work so that YOU can sell THEIR work and make a profit on YOU'RE behalf.

I thought people that sold operating systems made it themselves =\

Personally, I'd hate to see my own work being sold by some jackass who can't do anything himself and he's making the profit instead of me.
