Ok, so i would prefer help with ROC, which i choose to play more than TFT, which may sound noob, but either way, if you would rather give TFT strats that is fine, but I am seeking ROC strats more than TFT at this point.
So here is my dilema, I have been playing WC3 since it came out, I was never too serious about it, but I am at the point where i know i could own at least 60% of the time with the right strat, but that isnt happening. I dont use any cookie-cutter strats, i play an adaptive strategy that differs a bit every time, however i find myself getting owned more often than i find acceptable, (i am around 55% 1v1 and 50.5% 2v2).
So my question to any gosu out there, which cookie cutter strat is most effective with NE, i know a good deal of about dif armor types and such, i micro well, and use my heros well, I just typically get pwned by a mass that is obvioulsy the result of someone using an effective cc strat against me, how can i tell?? losing to players with weak micro, low lvl heros, etc, its just the fact that i get outnumbered, this happens more often in 2v2 than in 1v1 due to my teamate teching to wyverns.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
PS- I hear a alot about the DOTT mass strat, but i cant justify making an army without any serious meat to take some damage.

NE's are weak starters. They are the hardest race to play for a noob. Orc is generally better for beginners, because they take a lot of damage. I mean, with some decent micro, you can take on 8 footmen with 3 grunts and a FS + salves. Grunts having 800 starting HP is ridiculous. That's the same ammount as a Huntress.
But here are the advantages NE's have over the other races.
NE's do well against orcs. They can keep their distances, and pelt them with ranged, and Tier 1 seige~!. Yea, don't forget that unlike the other races, you can build seige at Tier 1. I don't really care for seige in most matches, but Mirror matches, seige becomes pretty important. Mainly because it causes so much damage.
In order to play the NE's well, you need to harass. Early harass. As well as playing tank heros like the DH, Beast Master, Tinker, Fire Lord. Those heros own with mass range, and harass. I tend to always use them because you really can't stop them. The Merc heros work very well with the NE's. They can powerlevel very quickly, because Archers are the best units in the game IMO. Sure at level 3 coil, they die in one hit, but they cause big damage when you FF things.
A common strat I use is tricking the enemy into thinking I'm going mass range. Which I almost always do. But I'm secretly going to build up to Mass Hippo riders. Thanks to good ol' Murdoc, he's an excellent tinker player. It works well against in Mirror matches. Against say, undead, it can get hard, because you can't harass their base to keep the guys occupied. Human's is great, because their base is usually very condensed around their peasents, which make fast food for any AoE attacks. Warden is particularly good at taking down pesky humans. Orc is usually weaker than NE, due to the NE range. But since there are some good FS players out there, they can totally own your little archers with Chain Lightning, and Shockwave. What you want to do against orc, is start your early harass before they get Siege. Because once they get siege, it's going to ruin your day. You have to beat them fast, and tech faster, build faster, and harass harder.
Also, remember to always get Boots of speed, Scroll of Invulnerability, Potion of invisiblity, and a Staff of tele early on in the game. They prove very useful for your weak NE heros. And are great assests to totally owning a base in harass.
For example. Most people don't like the Human Pally. He's weak right? Yea, probably, but against undead, he rocks. He completely owns UD. Just get him a staff of tele, and boots of speed, then get into their base and use Light on the acos. They fall so fast. 1 wack with the hammer, and a light, and they go down. You can kill all the acos before the enemy comes back to save them. But harassing is a big part of NE strats, as well as keeping the entire map scouted at all times...

i have a good idea, im level 8 but it works pretty good against level 20's
I start by building altar, well, then i make the tree that makes the archs and huntr and siege, then i wait till i have 100 wood and make the tech thingy, then i make 2 huntresses and start killin stuff, it usually works because the guy makes weak units. Then i make maybe 10 of em, then i evolve tree, keeping making wells, then i make 2 lores, then druids and the poison throwing thingys, and make sure to get regenerate, so if u got ur druid just put it on the frontier units and one roar maybe, and if ur micro is good, ull pwn believe me, u got the unkillable druids and the poison thingys in the back totally pwning the guy, and i never buy the hero items and stuff so i guess ull get better with that. and then i keep spamming, i usually win that way, i started when i had 20-25% and after a few fights i got 40% or something, and in the long run ill get maye 60-70 i guess, i dunno how it works with pros, but level 20's get pwned, i even beat a tired level 35 once, altough i hate the level 45 that act like level 5 just to kill some noobs, that sux

This strat is a little awkward in RoC, but if you work at it it's excellent.
The most widely built upon strat for NE right now is chippo, which basically consists of straight tech up to tier 3 and getting chimeras and hippos. Start with DH, get your hunter's hall really fast, get a few archers and hunts, creep like your life depends on it, get one or two wisps on scouting (REALLY FREAKIN IMPORTANT), and then start to tier 2. Avoid losing ANY units, dance injured ones to the back, etc. If you don't, you might get rushed and have nothing to drive it back with. Once you're at tier 2 build an ancient of wind and an ancient of lore, and then tech up to tier 3. While this goes on, you should try to get at least one or two mines, and you should try to upgrade animal abilities every tier. If you run into trouble or think you might be going to slow or your opponent seems to have alot more troops, you can always make another ancient of lore and start getting bears or dryads depending on the situation. Avoid spending money on anything other than upgrades and moonwells if you can. When you hit tier 3 make two chimera roosts and start pumping chims. Depending on if your scouts see alot of anti-air or not, you may not have to build hippogryphs. If you do see alot of anti-air, start makin' em early. If you see alot of ground, especially fiends etc., get more hunts or bears, and don't worry about hippos. So by this time, you have an army consisting of your tier 1 hunts and archers, maybe some bears or dryads, and LOTS of chims. From there on its all down hill for the other guy. Keep in mind that this takes alot of practice to perfect, because you can't take alot of time getting to tier 3 and getting expansions. You should have a chim or two at the 9-10 minute mark. Remeber: if your scouts see your opponent has, for example, mass gargoyles (a common UD strat that can pwn the SHIT out of NE), you might want to stop and change your strategy. making another ancient of lore can turn your strategy around really quickly especially with a mix of bears to tank, dryads to pwn from behind them, and mountain giants to taunt if need be.

This works if you are playing FFA. Otherwise, this is a slow build order. You must get a defense going early on, at the same time harassing the crap out of the enemy. Which isn't a problem as long as it's not Undead. With that tech, you're teching extremely slowly. As well as starting with hunts, which have been nerfed to oblivion. They are no longer as great of a unit as they were. This is a late game strat. It won't work if someone decides to harass you. I haven't played ROC in a while, but in ROC, it'll probably work since the NE's heros are limited in ROC, and you can't harass as well as in TFT. Plus, no anticasters to worry about.

I would never ever let anyone build up to Chimeras. Even in ROC. I wouldn't let the battle drag on that long. Within the first 5 minutes of the match, most people would have already scouted you, and started harassing. Fast tech keeps you low on resources, and units to protect your base. The way for this to work is to harass the enemy and keep the enemy at his base. Power creep to leve 3 ASAP, get 5 archers, and a DH with Burn and Evade. That should be enouhg to get up to level 3. Then get to the store if there is one, and get Boots of speed, and a Staff of tele. This will allow you to harass, and actually build up to chims without being disturbed. Also, don't push too hard, you don't want the DH to die, and then get rushed at your moment of weakness. The DH is good at Harassing Human bases. You can solo harass a human base very easily with a DH. Just go in quickly, kill 1 peasent, run out. Your objective is to disturb the leveling and creeping of the Heros and get them back to their base. Or to hinder their resources.
I'm telling you, TFT is better. There are less strats that work, and more relient on micro.
