yeah, they were going to make a halo movie, now I recall
here we are, i found this on IMDB:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0464037/
Apparently it's coming out in 2008.
I think it might have a better response than Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, but we can only hope. There is one thing you can be sure of: they will have tried their hardest to make the 3D models look realistic, and it will definitely be visually impressive.
Uh oh, look at this:
Status:
Unknown
Comments:
Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Microsoft, have postponed this project.
Status Updated:
31 October 2006
Note:
Since this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change; some data could be removed completely.
eek! I'm happy peter jackson is in on this, but it has been postponed! Anybody see another Starcraft: Ghost happening?

I had heard Halo was canceled rather than postponed. I really hope it's the latter, though. Jesus...

The company that was going to fund it pulled out of the movie and Microsoft was in talks in making its OWN movie studio for it.
I'm waiting for this video game movie (going to Import):

http://ryu-movie.com/ < Trailer
That movie will be directed by Takashi Miike

Children of Men had a half-life 2 feeling about it.
Game movies have been a hit and miss. Think resident evil and street fighter.

I actually liked Spirits Within...dunno why just do.
Anyway i heard there is going to be a Metal Gear Solid movie and David Hayter (the voice of solid snake) is going to be solid snake for the movie...hmmm good for voice, dunno if he has the look.
/imagines Hugh Jackman as Solid Snake
edit:

Warcraft Movie
Haven't heard any news about this lately. I just hope it will continue from the WC3/WoW storyline.. like with Thrall, Jaina, etc. still alive. Hopefully some news on the Lich King. =]

hhhhhhhum.. the movie isn't street fighter, its a serious movie not some trash like Mortal Kombat, Takashi Miike is a great director that did Ichi the Killer, Visitor Q, and Audition. The Movies will be based on the game Yakuza (US Title) Ryū ga Gotoku (Like a Dragon Japan Title)

ya... i realised it wasn't trash, Ichi the Killer is one of the most brutal movies ive seen in along time, like when they cut that womans nipples off >_< gerrhh! i havnt seen that movie in liek a year... i have it around here somwhere though... but yeah I realised it wasnt Street fighter, the Mortal Kombat comment was not longer a part of the same discussion, it was referring to the topic, not your comment, and if i say it looks like its going to own, why would it be trash ( i was joking about Mortal Kombat hence the oh-so-crappy comment, and the "why walk when we can flip!" you obviously didnt sence the sarcasm....
Edit: I forget to mention Yakuza, I remember watch a trailer for that, it was awsome, i hope the movie is just as good!

Special effects might be hard to pull off for Half-Life but the game has a very solid story so if they were given the money to produce it I really don't see any problems. It would be difficult to cast the perfect actor for Gordan Freeman because it would have to be someone who is a good actor but at the same time not well known so we don't sit there the whole movie and say I think he was better in 007 or Mission Imposable lol

The Doom movie was OKAY. As a stand alone action sci-fi movie, it was fun. Living up to the game doom however? NOT AT ALL.
The one video games movie I'd really like to see done WELL, as in not by Hollywood, is a metal gear solid movie. Those games have the best story line out of any game I've ever played, and well, I play them for the story rather then game play! I'd love to see a movie DIRECTLY based on the series, not an adaptation, but a direct translation , of course filling in the 'game play' details. Hmm.. who'd play solid snake?
A starcraft movie would be fun to. Way to aliens/SST - but MUCH cooler then a halo movie!
