Things have changed so often and so quietly..
Almost every second topic is worth looking at it, and these things will always be the most important and interesting volumes in the internet.
A few days ago, when I clicked onto a user profile her, I though about the whole stuff I did here and everywhere else on the net. I was surprised.
Many thoughts I made a long time ago were acknowledged, I am still on the PC and the time just flew by.
I have more memories of stuff that happened it special forums or threads, even in games, than what I did in school in the 1st till 7th grade.
Sometimes, and that is weird, I prefer shutting down the computer more than just keep on surfing, keeping the time flying by, so the next days can finally begin.
But still, when I open a Funlink, for example, I am surprised, becase people still think, they found the ultimative-joke.
How did that all begin? My god, I would have been on the computer for 25 hours a day if I could and would have tested every game, downloaded pictures and screens of good-looking, female celebreties and could have spammed every forum.
Even if the use of the PC was made slower by the connection-speed and the PC itself, I still used the most potential out of the internet.
I even sneaked digitally around at 3 AM, just to find some HL-Configpages which explained how to stay on your most favorite server, even though you are a high-pinger (>400).
It was a sad thing that this server was taking its place on the monkey-island.
In that time, the whole net was a dirty blob, which wanted to be seen and explained, and I had a new, huge file in my bookmarks, every week.
Games weren't bought, no. You leeched them of the net (Mods for teh win!) and all my internet-contacts were weird freaks that added me because of looking onto my ICQ-profile (lol).
Months later, I signed up at this forum. I searched through many threads and posts and learned and learned and learned.
My first thread was a question, if Jeremy was German or something. I didn't even watch every episode, it was like searching through the forum, meeting people, getting the names into the memory, while watching PurePwnage Episodes, up from 1 to 8 at that time, I think.
After that, the whole thing started again: Gaming, Posting, Chatting, Meeting.
What I am trying to say (.. I recognize that I'm not going straight to topic), is the fact, that you (me?) have two or three things in the net, which are still there after the rough beginning.
Some very great people (Chatting, Meeting, etc.), a favorite game, which is only changing, because there are no servers left on which I can play and a hand full of webpages, which you check out first, as soon as the browser opens up (counter-strike.de, purepwnage.com).
Especially in this forum, I've meet people that you can find in every corner of the net, who played every mod and made a comment in every thread. Some of them are like me: They have not much time left, they just check out a few threads and maybe post their picture in the Official Picture Thread from time to time, but they are still (re)presenting the forum with their being.
Web 2.0 (what a stupid word) - for me - means: You are always in the middle of the Internet, and always on the same spot. The dynamics are gone, but you feel "home", in a corner of the net.
Are you still surfing, or already alive?
