Millions every year play MMOGs because we enjoy this genre of gaming. The genre is growing very quickly, and as new MMOGs are released, millions more will adventure and be immersed in a fantasy world like no other experience.
If this has offended anyone, take it light-heartidly. I've been an occasional lurker for a couple of weeks now, and the amount of immaturity, and dare I say idiocy, has kept me from posting until today.

Also, it's not like any of us claim MMORPG games take skill (Besides the email in Jeremy's mailbag).

The fact that some mmorpgs have gotten over a million players this year alone, fee or not, should say something.

The only moron here is you. Massivly Multiplayer Online Games. It's not limited to the Roleplaying genre, ie: MMOFPS (MMO First Person Shooter).

Never seen MMOFPS ever. Did you invent an abbreviation or something?

Planetside is a good example.
Just thought I would throw in a story as to why there are people out there that bash mmorpg's. At my buds house the other day, he told me to come over while he was doing a dungeon in WoW; said we would leave when he was done. Well when I got there he had just finished dying and him and his group were running back to the dungeon, they started their way through and about 20 min in they all died again. Well 2 hours go by and they have died about 4 or 5 times now. I decide to leave and tell him to call me when he is done. Well an hour and a half later I call him and find out that his group never made it through the dungeon and that the last 3 hours of his life were pretty much a big waste of time as they accomplished nothing in the game except for maybe a little bit of experience.
I dont know how many times ive played a mmo where the same situation happened to me - where I was better off just not playing at all. I fully on know why people play the games and I dont blame them at all - its crack you cant help it. Ive wasted many many many hours playing mmo's to have absolutely nothing to show for it except a character that is being stored on some server somewhere that I no longer have access to unless I want to keep giving them money.
Just my take on the mmo genre now. Maybe im just mad that I cant afford to play WoW
