Hi, thanks a ton for reading my uhmm post.
Around december, I'm planning to get a new computer from Alienware.
Yes, I know. Alienware emptys your bank account.

Anywase, I'm gonna be doing a lot of gaming. (Cs:s, lots of DoD:S, maybe some BF's, prolly not any warcraft.)

These are the like specs I'm looking at.

Model: Area-51 7500. Extreme gaming addition.

Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme QX6700 2.66GHz 8MB Cache 1066MHz FSB (Quad Core Technology)

Opperating system: Genuine Windows® XP Professional

Motherboard: Alienware® Approved NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI Motherboard

Memory: 4GB DDR2 Performance SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 x 1024MB

System drive: 1TB (2 x 500GB) Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ 2 x 16MB Cache

Graphics Processor: Dual 768MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8800 GTX - SLI Enabled - Requires 1000W Power Supply.

Power supply: Alienware® 1000 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply (SLI Ready)

So, yeah.
Just give it a _/15 scoring, whatevers good.
Also, if theres like anything you would replace feel free to. Thanks.

Rule #1: Do not buy from Alienware.

Rule #2: Numerical ranks do not accurately portray computer prowess.

So, tell us why you feel you need someone to make your computer for you. Buying an Alienware is a grave mistake.

Well, that's the bleeding edge of today's tech. Should hold you off for a while. You could get away with 2GB of ram and if those drives are in RAID0 it squares your opportunity for drive failure, so you'll find most people recommending running them as JBOD.

HOLY SHIT. Anyhoo, Komet is right (of course). You can build this yourself and save money and ensure quality of parts by buying them all by yourself. Plus you have bragging rights not just that you can afford that monster rig, but that you also put it together yourself.

Haha, afford that monster rig? Uhmm, its only around like 7 grand through alienware. And about 5 grand through new egg. But I still want it through alienware. I mean, I need that two thousand dollar lighted-up alien head. :).

ugh.

IF YOU "HAVE" TO get an Alienware then go for 2 gigs of ram 4 is just overkill
but id suggest saving 2 grand and building it yourself

Well guess what SMART COMPUTING IS STUPID.

It's really like this:
Building it your damn self: WTFHAX A+++
Alienware: C
Compaq: C
HP: C
Gateway: D
Dell: F- FUCKING FAILURES!

Jesus Christ man, if you have that much money to buy a pc with why would you want some damn machine building it? Just like cars, the best PCs are built by hand, not by machine. Not to mention machine builts usually have god awful wiring jobs and usually don't give you the actual specs of important things like your mobo (like, not even the damn brand)

And you can't?

And yes, we (or some of us) will most likely continue to hound you about building your own pc.

1. It's rather easy.
2. Full customization of hardware. <--Alienware doesn't offer that.
3. It will save you money.. money that you can use on a blinged out whip or whatever since you've got like 7,000+ to blow on a PC.
4. Lian Li, Antec, and a few other brands make cases that are cosmetically excellent and provide airflow that equals or is greater than Alienware cases.

Well I could, but I'd rather spend 2 grand more for like someone else to. haha.
And alienware does fully allow you to select each and every part from the graphics cards to the sound cards.

Umm.. no. It doesn't. I guarantee you can't select something like an Antec case and then have the ability to choose a DFI or an ASUS motherboard. I've been to their site, they give you like 4 options. Believe me, there's a lot more options than what they show you.. if you were to build your own.

Alright guys, STFU here for a minute. This guy is appearrantly getting an Alienware and if you insist on changing his mind do it through PM.

The other guys ARE right though...building it yourself would be a lot better..

but anyways...looks like you're good to go...

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Every time someone goes against Weiman's sig I feel like they should be bludgeoned for a few minutes in the head to feel the headache I feel when I realize someone really IS that dense.
