I'm just looking for a computer that'll run Counter-strike: source, and all the other generation games; (Battlefeild 2142, Battlefield 2, Guild wars, ect.).

Ok either get parts picked, waste a whole crapload extra moeny with that stuff your looking at or www.dell.com TBH

requirements for that stuff
e6300
2gigs DDR2 RAM
7900GT graphics card, though i would say get a DX 10 card like an 8800GTS

then put on a decent mobo, PSU that will work, hard drives burners etc.

Itll end up costing about 20% of that one your looking at getting and still suit your needs just fine.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Metabox P170 laptop
i7 2.3GHz
4x4GB RAM
256GB SSD + 500GB HDD
nVidia GTX570M

For my first computer I knew i wanted it to be totally uber, now I look back and see that paying 1k AUS on a 7800GTX was a bit of a mistake. You're going to spend a hell of a lot more on this rig then I did on mine, just make sure when the whole 'new computer effect' wears off, your aren't going to be left thinking why you spend 7k on a PC.

major QFT, you can get a computer that will play EVERYTHING you want on MAX detail for a mere fraction of what you're spending. Price for computers gets exponential in the bleeding edge segment.

If I were you, I'd strongly advise having a rig made for you with an Intel Core 2 Duo e6600, 2x1GB of DDR2 800, a 8800GTS, and a pair of 320GB SATA II hard drives among all the other goodies. It'll do everything you want, and then some, and you can buy yourself...a nice used car... with the money you saved.

I mean, we're not even talking about saving money...that setup there is still like 90% of the performance of that maxxed out one you wanted in the first place. The dual SLI cards are going to barely be working on anything less than a 24" LCD, nobody even has a use for quad core yet really, the two 500gb hard drives have a horrible cents/gigabyte ratio, you can't even address 4GB of ram under a 32bit machine, I could go on and on about how that rig you want isn't really what you need (or will use).

There's no need to build it yourself, or even go through monarch or ibuypower. Like, I'll go check out a nice Dell XPS right now. Sure they're a little rape in the price, but not the kind of rape that alienware is. Here we go:

XPS 700

Core 2 Duo E6600
XP MCE w/ reinstall CD + Vista Upgade
Express Upgrade to Vista Home Premium
2GB Dual Channel (You really truly don't need 4GB, and adding another 2GB later is as easy as cooking poptarts.)
320GB SATA
Dual optical Drives, 1xDVD-ROM 1xDVD-RW
~Whatever size monitor you want
GeForce 7900GTX (I threw this in here just to get the right price, wait till they offer the 8800s)
SoundBlaster X-Fi
3 Yr Warranty
3 Yr CompleteCare Accident Coverage

and you're looking at $2833 for just the PC, but it'll do all the same things your $8000 one will at the same speed.

Wait... What exactly are you doing? Building it, or buying it? Because if you're sorry you spent 4 grand on a dell (LOL) you're going to try to fix that by... Spending 7 grand on a alienware?

Like it means it won't be able to function well since theres just so much uneeded RAM. Not all of it will be used.

You won't thats the point. Anything above 2 gigs pretty much is a waste. More is not necessarily better.

Hmm. Well like when theres like a drive that can adress the ram, I'll be all set, right?

Question: Bottom line, will this alienware computer run CS:S, GW, everything like lagless? (Generation.)
I'm good with that.
Question: Will this run next generation lagless? (Crysis, ect.)
I'm even good-er with that. But I'm okay if it's not.

Lag is in big part determined by internet connection. For a little part of this total price you could build a computer that could do all that.

A computer for a fraction of that price would last for a while. Probably just about as much as that alienware.

An unsigned integer in a 32bit machine can be a maximum of 4,294,967,295 (2^32). Each cell in memory represents an individual address to the processor, and in a 32bit machine you cannot have more than 4,294,967,295 memory addresses, because it's not physically possible.

If that's beyond your comprehension, let me put it this way; 32bit machines can't understand that much memory. 64bit machines (2^64) obviously can, but you'd want to wait for Vista 64 for that and you're still not going to use more than 2GB of ram on a home computer for any reason.

They're called Userbars, a quick google search will find you everything else you're looking for. I did design four or five of them myself, the rest I found.
