Well, yeah. The question then becomes: how does it compare to other quad cores out there? Intel and AMD are both claiming mainstream quadcore within the year. Move to DDR3 in 2007. SSE5. Obsoleted socket. Moore's Law still applies to dual cores/quad cores. The QX6700 isn't unified, anyway (FSB for communication). The race now is for IPC, but it's still going to work the same way...

Well i guess i cant really argue with moore's law, so according to it quadcore would last a couple more months but thats about it. I guess that could turn out how it is without too much difficulty.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I.. just cried. For ten minutes.
First of all, I dearly appriciate all the feedback, especially Evol.
Now, I'm not really competing for the worlds greatest computer.
I'm just looking for a computer that'll run Counter-strike: source, and all the other generation games; (Battlefeild 2142, Battlefield 2, Guild wars, ect.).
I understand that I will need to recieve upgrades in the future for future games.
Actually! I have an idea. If you guys could just go through my parts, (Hard drive, Ram, Processor, ect.) and just maybe give it a 1/10 rating? Like, that'd be really great.
And like if you have any suggustions on hardware to replace.
Thank you like super super much.

Oh wow. Sorry, how silly of me.
Only biiig men build shop on newegg and put together a computer.
To be honest, computers are a little nerdy.
I'd rather not even risk the RAID or whatever. How do I get rid of it?
On another note, I'd be glad to send you 2,000 dollars, you know, just for shits and giggles.
.
Haha, amen, Phate.

It's not as hard as you think. Komet has a tutorial on this I believe. I learned how to do it myself in not that long at all. Who cares if its a little nerdy? You can overclock which you can't do on prebuilts and theres a lot of knowledge to be uncovered when building a computer.

We already have gone through your hardware. There's nothing to replace; there's nothing that can be upgraded any more than it already is. If you knew what you're buying you'd know that. And like if you have any suggustions on hardware to replace.
I'll go off to my big man computer building nerd laboratory now.

Thank you Komet.
Uhmm, it looks like I'm good to go with the like parts, right?
But like how do I switch the RAID to JBOD or what like it was?
Thanks.

Yes as Komey said a 1000$ DIY comp would protect you for a while, I could make it a lesser price, but that would increase the suckyness, and then may cause a bo... cant say it. (Or Komets gonna charge his lazer!)

lol'd.
To get your drives shipped in JBOD, choose:
Single Drive Configuration 500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ 16MB Cache
and then
Additional Storage Drive 500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ 16MB Cache.
btw they're charging you $750 for an extra 2GB of ram. You could save some serious cash by getting your rig built with 2GB and buying another set from like newegg.

If he really wants to be so damn nub about it and "OMFG COMPOOTER R FOH NERD I NEEDS TO USE SOLDERING TOOLS (lol people actually think that) N STUFF TO MAKES ONE!11"
then he should just go ibuypower or monarch or something. If you're not concerned about saving money at all, I would say

If I had the money, and didn't care about wasting it, or paying 4k more than I should, or anything else, I would so get one of those.

Actually, odds are it's worse than what you can buy for half the price. As a great man once said:

If computers are overpriced, that probably means it comes with free anal lube.

define great RAM! heck, the most expensive (and very good) 2 gigs of RAM that newegg offers is this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145044
it is DDR2-1111 CAS4. and it only costs $610, as opposed to the extra $750 that alienware wants to charge you. and i can almost 100% assure you that they are not giving u such high quality memory

Yes, it took thirty yards of solder and $36.74 worth of logic gates, not to mention the price I paid for having the PCBs made. And I had to plate the contacts myself! Oh the horror.
