Alright, for as long as I can remember FTW meant Fuck The World. Thats been around since like late80's/early 90's. It seems FTW has taken a new meaning in the gaming world. For The Win, as we all know.
You check Urban Dictionary and there's a lot of entries for Fuck the World as well as one for For the Win.
But get this, it reads that FTW is used for games like Everquest online and World of Warcraft.
So does this make For the Win only suitable for MMO's? Hmmmm???
What if fuck the world was used for fps?
So what is it guys?
Fuck the World?
or
For the Win?

Fuck The World? Who in God's good name say's that. I have never EVER seen anyone say that in all my years of online play in FPS, RTS and MMO.
It also seems like a gay thing to say aswell. Fuck The World? Emo much?

I've heard the hip hop usage a lot but never associated it with FTW. It is an interesting coincidencen though, and contribute to some interesting remarks in WoW, but i think it's a liittle columbine to use it in FPS

''For the win'' is mianly used in the WoW community, but also in general gaming discussions. ''Fuck the world'' is used by gangster wannabes and gang members to show how much......err they hate the world? It makes no sense at all! I've seen quite a couple of time FTW griffitis, and i'm sure the one who did that wasnt a gamer:P

Well..I use FTW (for the win) in everything, not only MMO's.
Hell..I use FTW (for the win) even when I'm talking to friends on msn or in rl.
TBH, I haven't even heard of "fuck the world" that's GHEY!

fuck the world? What the fuck? What kind of emo piece of shit would say that? As for it being used in hiphop, I don't listen to rap or hiphop, or R&B or whatever, so I wouldn't know.

For the win FTW tbh you know like who would say fuck the world unless your on like a emo forum and everyone has to say fuck the world after everything you know wait I don't even know where that would fit in like "hey man I just played cs the other day" and which sounds better "yeah man cs for the win" or yeah man cs fuck the world!"

I honestly thought that was Fuck The World before I started posting regularly here.
Biker Gangs use FTW in the - as you guys assume - "Emo" sense. I believe Hell's Angels used to (or still do) have FTW on their jackets.
FTW is online.
It's not emo.
Emo sucks.
FTW is awesome in both ways.
