Hello guys,

Thought this would be an interesting subject but would you rather a DS or PSP???

I started this thread with the intention that neither consoles were modified in anyway.

I have a PSP at the moment but I only use it for homebrew however I would prefer a DS as

a) More exciting games than the PSP titles at the moment (Mario 64 DS, Metroid and the up coming zelda)
B) Two screens
c) Gets users more involved
d) Touch screen
e) Sound quality is amazing
f) Great titles to play

However the PSP has

a) The ability to play movies off a memory stick
B) the ability to play UMD movies
c) Boring games
d) UMD's arent writable
e) Sony are pricks, whateva

As for homebrewable side of things i think the PSP wins by miles.. (except the fact that the DS has linux)

Vote!!!

I would have to choose the DS, for having more appealing games to me.

.... use the search, this is the 34003030303030th thread about this.

NO matter what THREAD You make ... nintendo wins on these forums.

Make a thread called Regular Gameboy VS PSP and i bet you that the Regular gameboy would win.

heres the comments it would say:

"Green and Gray is underrated"

"Tetris FTW"

"OMG KIRBYS DREAMLAND PWNS IT UP"

DS because PSP is a multimedia player that happens to play games. If you care the most about good and original games then get the DS. PSP has PS2 ports that don't even control that well because of the one analog stick.

If you're worried about PSP games being a bit lacking, with the new firmware upgrade you'll get a PS1 Emulator. So you can play PS1 games. For a fee to download though. Lol but who gives a shit about the fee because someones gonna find a way around it.

lol "DS hands down. ....because jeremy likes it....." No point in even asking. You obviously want a DS and you just came here to have encouragement. I personally think its a waste of money unless you play on the go.. a lot.

p.s PSP owns DS

Im rather suprised that PSP has only one vote so far...

anyways, I voted DS, and here's why:

I own both these systems. I, to this day, think it's unfair to both parties to compare one to the other. A Nintendo DS is in no way anywhere near the same thing as a PSP. A PSP is a portable PLaystation two. Every so often you get some amazing games which arent on the PS2 but GENERALLY, a hell of a lot of PSP games are ports, or are released for all the major systems.

PSP is a good system. THe screen is amazing, sound, amazing. It's cool that you can go online and memory uprading is handy too. However, I bought the PSP and only have purchased two games for it: Me and My Katamari and Valkyrie Profile. Valkyrie Profile is a port from the PS1 game, and Me and My Katamari is virtually identical to the other two Katamari Damacy games. While I claim those both to be amazing games, they're not new and amazing.

And honestly, I NEVER watch movies on my PSP. It's annoying. I get tired of holding it after an hour and a half.

But it IS a good system if that's what you want: a portable PS2 with nothing really new or special (save Loco Roco and Lumines, the latter being released on PS2 anyways...)

Now, DS:

I have not touched my Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, PSP, nothing for months. Why? DS CONTINUOUSLY releases amazing, new, and innovative games. And they are all games from so many different genres, and because of the dual screen, they are games which have not been duplicated or released for all the systems.

Every month SOMETHING comes out. With the DS Nintendo has been really holding strong to it's first party characters: We have MANY Mario themed games, Pokemon games, Star Fox now. IT's also welcomed many other new charcters to its team, like my beloved Phoenix Wright (Which I know isnt new in Japan and is a GBA port but damnit, it's new here) and games like Trauma Centre.

Innovative and new. Cooking Mama. Trauma Centre. Electroplankton.

And taking the old and making it new. Animal Crossing. Star Fox. Super Mario Brothers.

The DS is simply a steller system. I have, because of this system alone, become a huge hand held gamer. Sure, almost strickly for DS, but I was NEVER a hand held gamer before. Now, my other systems collect dust (except for when my Mom plays games)

Theres so much I can say. Both systems are good in their own ways, but for fun factor, I will ALWAYS go with the DS>

Well basically everyone has analyzed this question through and through, my view on this is which console will bring you more fun for less money?? Sure pulling out a PSP will bring ooo's and ahhh's but you gotta ask yourself:

Are you an attention whore?

DS wins. Sony wins perhaps in TV consoles with its array of 1st and 3rd party games (debatable obviously), but handheld wise you need a rich first party based software range to get well finished, polished titles.

I would have to say DS. I am not impressed by any of the PSP software. I mean GTA: LCS was good, but not great. Metal Gear is lame with the card based battling. Lumines is a good puzzler, but I can download it to my Moto phone. SOCOM is dumbed down because of the single analog so much that it isn't the same game. I mean what else do I need to say? I mean correct me if I am wrong, but those games are the PSP's "killer apps" right?

If I were purchasing a handheld, and I really was a sports game fan, and a guy that really cared about graphics, I would get a PSP. It isn't a bad system at all. It simply is dealing with piss-poor implementation.

If I wanted new software experiences, I would get a DS.
