I was wondering what music you guys listen to whie you do your homework. I've found that instrumental music (music w/o words) and music that you can't understand (Janne de Arc; J-ROCK) are the best ones (because they don't distract you as much, but are still nice to listen to). Your thoughts?

I'll listen to anything as long as I don't have it loud enough to get the song stuck in my head or start singing along with it.

joe satriani's Extremist album and Bach's brandenburg songs remind me of my sleepless week when i had to churn out pages and pages of essays for the final exactly two years ago... i had those on repeat for hours. now everytime i listen to those, i get that same feeling of accomplishment and coca cola

... ah nostalgia and music. So close they're basically the same thing... but that's for another topic... that hasn't even been created, and propably won't be...
Anyway... I find listening to the Floyd when doing homework chills me out and gets me focussed. Something about Floyd makes them pretty much the best band ever... don't even know what it is. It's more of a mental thing when you listen to Floyd... the physical aspect of their music barely exists. You never listen to Pink Floyd and say "I WANT TO DANCE" (unless they want you to.. "Run Like Hell" anyone?). You listen to Pink Floyd and you start thinking... it's weird. Few bands have the same effect on me.
All these courses I'm taking at University make music so much cooler... I recommend anyone who goes to University or college to take a "Music and Your Brain" type course. Really changes the way you look at this kind of stuff....

Heavy Metal, Rock and Roll, Punk, and anything else along those lines. Usually pumps me up and makes me type 2x speed of light. Plus, it blocks out all the other sound.

I've always thought doing homework while listening to music with lyrics is kinda the same as trying to count while someone is shouting random numbers at you. I stick with instrumentals.

I used to listen to anything when I did homework when I was still going to school... But mostly 70's, 80's and early 90's rock

Japanese rap is funny
A true fan of Japanese rap would do the cool thing and refer to it simply as "Jap". A broader term would be "Japhop".

Sounds disconcertingly vague.

[J-ROCK] are the best ones
True-say. Me here, I listen to Dir en grey, Gazette, D'espairsRay, Phantasmagoria, Kagerou and my guilty pleasure: AnCafe when doing my homework.
Ranges anywhere from thrash metal, to speed metal, to hard rock, techno (Diru's Kai album), and poppy

Pretty sure you've heard nothing by Diru except for what's on Withering to Death (which isn't that great an album anyway, but is #1 on Amazon's best hard rock albums of 2006 list*).
A lot of fans, including myself, will tell you Gauze is their best album.
Though Gauze scored a 9/10 on UGuitar, and WTD scored a 9.7/10 o,o. WTD is more radio-friendly though :\.
Tuffins, what JRock bands you listen to?

I agree. Gauze was mediocre whereas the rest were truly appalling.
