ANYWAY -
Right, I was thinking about working on some DS ports. Specifically Starcraft, seeing as how there's a few good RTS games out for it. Maybe some Quake 3 later if I feel determined to do something. xD
Anyway, I just need suggestions, ideas for interface, touch screen use, etc. I'm also looking for people to join up on the project, doing things like help with programming, beta testers, etc.
So...
Anyone?
(Side Note: Inspiration Here.)
Also, try not to be all "DS SUCKXKCK PSP IX BETAR!!11seven!!1" because I'm working on the DS. NOT THE PSP. So, don't even bring it up.

I'll be sure to do that.
And don't worry about the programming aspect, I don't know either xD
It's just an idea I had that I'm studying how I might go about doing it.

SEMI BUMP!
All the stuff on there is purely theoretical and speculative. If it won't work then it's probably not going to happen anyway.

What your trying to do seems possible, but it would take a lot of work.
The homebrew community for the DS was relatively small, but it seemed to get bigger. Needless to say, it's still small. In either case, I'm sure you will find some good help on those message boards.
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/
Darkain is one of the most well knows homebrewers.
http://www.darkain.com/
His message board seems to be somewhat populated, and I've dug around there a lot for some help, and got some links to some other message boards.
Good luck! Keep us posted with updates too!

have you made an RTS for the PC yet? Or have you not done a RTS before?
Not exactly an easy type of game for a small team to do properly

Nope, never done it. I guess it would be a waste of time, seeing as I have no experience.
/sarcasm
C'mon... It'd be at least worth a shot right? Please... Tell me it's worth a shot.
I don't need a wasted shot right now.
Seriously.
IMP Fails, and so, I do in it.
I need this shot for this or something else.

RTS games are among the most complex types of games to make mostly due to all the interactions between the objects(lots of debugging), the immense art requirements, the AI(a subject all on it's own), add in multiplayer and it's doubled Everest.
Quake 3 at least has the source code available, but it'll take some good DS hardware knowledge to optimize it enough to work for the DS(and take advantage of the touch screen), which probably isn't an easy task as ID isn't exactly made of newb programmers.
That being said they're both entirely possible, but wouldn't it be more feasible and a lot more rewarding to make your own game than a port of an existing one? In addition to allowing you the freedom to make the scope of the game fit your resources as having a small working game is a thousand times better than having a promise of a big game.

I would be a lot more pumped about this if you actually knew what you were doing. Someone whose got some skills please help him out because starcraft on ds would rock.
Hmm, come to think of it, it must be hard to make a good rts on the ds, because no real rts's have come out on the ds yet. Maybe it can't handle it?

*koff*
A touch of war
*koff*
*run away*
(And It's more of a side project than anything, I just thought it would be something cool to do with my scads of free time.)
(And, you have to learn sometime, right? What's the point of doing something I want to do if other people are just going to do it for me? And just because I don't know how to do something - does that automatically make it bad? It's like school - You think back about answers you gave the teachers to questions you didn't know, but now, you can look back and see that answer was wrong... But you know - How? By learning. And that's what I'm angling to do.)

@ Zobmiefenix - That was pointless.
@ Everyone who reads this because they want to -
The post made in the blog today will be elaborated upon throughout the day. I just felt like doing a bit of the bumpty bump.
For instance, this guy who's (supposedly) good at programming stuff is coming over today, so that's going in.
My friend and I have been 1v1 on Starcraft, looking at mechanics and things...
So... Expect it to be updated.

Bump For The Sake of Shinobi.
But Let's Disguise this as an "UPDATE" huh?
Ok...
Let's See...
Right. RTS Programming Tutorials.
I found a few, and I've been trying to make heads or tails out of 'em.
Can anyone find some noob-friendly ones?
(they don't have to be DS-Specific. Just not Mac

Isometric game programming by Ernest Pazera has some awesome topics that are highly relevant to RTS programming. It's like bargain bin price now if you know where to look.
you mention blog updates, but I can't find the link to your blog.
