Ok so I know the ATI card has double the RAM, but I need to know if it's performance/quality is better than the nVidia card (espessially for first person shooters)
I have a 7800 GT right now, but a friend of mine who has connections with ATI, said that for one week he could get me that ATI card for $200.
The question is, does that card lack in any areas that my card is better at. Should I buy? Should my COD2 and CSS playing be used on my card or the new one?
Please, this is a very important decsion, and I'm more intuned with OS issues than hardware comparisons.

1900xtx obliterates the 7800gt. for 200$, get the 1900xtx - hella performance boost
edit: you could probably get $150 back on your 7800gt anyawy.

Yeah I am looking at those benchmark comparisons right now. Hmmmmm.... looks good. Ok thanks then, just wanting to know if nVidia more pixel pipelines would cause an increase in quality, but i guess now. Thanks again.

If you can sell your 7800GT, go for it. The x1900xtx slightly outperforms the 7900GTX, which is a good bit better than your 7800GT.
If you can't sell the 7800GT, don't bother. You still have a high end card.

I say get it anyway!!!! Its the image quality too... MY GOD!!!
nvid = fuzzy when compared. Expecially if your monitor is somewhat good. Its a crystal clear image, running over 100 fps.

Thats probably nota very good idea, if you sell the card now it would fetch you more than after DX10 comes out even if you have to put up with a lame card in the mean time think of the extra power you could buy later.

I have no extra card just lying around...and there's still a good 3 or 4 months before Vista/DX 10.

That's exactly what a friend of mine did, he got an 7300GS (which acutally doesn't really suck that much..)

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

And then we wait until the DX10 games come too. Not worth the wait IMO since till DX10 cards really shine could be upto 6 months or so.
