I reformatted. My sound isn't working now.
I've made sure the drivers were installed.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled.
I've reinstalled over.
My speakers are plugged in.
I've turned my sound all they way up.
I've made sure it's unmuted.
I've run through the troubleshooter to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Oh, and I've made sure my drivers are updated.
I guess I forgot to mention I restarted my computer about 239048239 times.

So far, I've still gotten no sound.
The only hint of sound I get is if I hite mute and then unmute my speak makes a staticy sound. icon_sad.gif
I've tried my headset also.. and while I'm adjusting the volume on my headset it makes a staticy sound also.

Any.. suggestions?

ok, you probably already checked this, but my sister was having a sound problem on her computer when she reformatted (her pc is really bad btw, like REALLY bad) and I went looking around and found that there was a micro-modem driver that wasn't functioning properly. When I updated the driver, it fixed the sound.

I know you already said that you updated all drivers, but since this isnt a sound driver, I thought I would give you the benefit of my small amount of experience.

Did you make sure you installed the chipset driver BEFORE the audio driver? If not uninstall all possible drivers and install the chipset driver first, followed by your audio driver.

Also, go into your BIOS and make sure the onboard audio isn't disabled or set to something odd.

yes.

Anyways, I found the ultimate solution: buying a new sound card.
Hey, it worked.
