you would be suprised, 500$ is plenty. I got... 3700+, 160gb HDD, 2gig ram, mobo for about that much, maybe a little less. factor out the HDD and it might be 400.

Alright let's see... i'm assuming you don't want an AM2 machine, because you didn't specify, but if you do, just say so. actually, if you want a videocard too... you might have to bump it up a bit.

i'm asuming you have a PSU, along with other stuff, make sure you have a big enough PSU. if you get SLI be sure to get a SLI-ready PSU.

That 939 looks allright, although the ram is of terrible quality. Anyways, I believe it would be wiser to go am2.

If you don't have a reliable PSU, invest in a Tt TR2 430w as well. It's cheap, reliable, quiet, and will power any rig that's not SLI / Crossfire.

Don't always trust the reviews, since they can be faltered by n00bs who dont know what the crap theyre talking about. Im not saying they cant be trusted, just that a second (or even third) opinion is your best ally. IMHO

Man, I wouldn't roll that shit if you gave it to me. Leave it all for the Dell XPS buyers to think they're getting "a good deal" and then get all pissed when their POS can't boot with 4gb of ram.

Hahaha But isnt 4Gb of RAM a little overkill? I mean seriously, I only have 1Gb and it runs fine (somewhat) but I dont think Id get over like 3Gb...(well I dont realy have a choice its either 1Gb (current), or 3Gb, or 5Gb... now 5Gb would just be hmm....whack)

lol@ komet. dell never has good deals I was just looking at a magazine and it had a PC that was 500 dollars and then you know how they give like 3 different models as if one is an "upgrade" of another? well all 3 of them had the exact same proc, memory, HDD, and mobo. I think they were 500,750, and 1000 I think the only difference was a better dvdrw drive and a 19 inch lcd instead of a 17 inch lcd. Dell is so stupid. it just makes me think about how many people get ripped off, and how they should grow a brain.

EDIT: so, Komet, what ram companies do you like? I really don't know what to trust when it comes to ram. OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, what else?

Yes, anything more than 2GB is retarded, thus an XPS user would definitely be interested in 4GB.

Well, I'm a big G.Skill fanboy. I think their stuff kicks ass, and its always a really good price (hehe I got my 2GBZX for $130). OCZ is also really great ram, especially if you can get it on a rebate. Corsair XMS is good, although they use the same chips as G.Skill and generally charge 15% more (if you find g.skill and corsair within $5 of eachother and they have the same timings, it's likely that they have the same chips underneath.). Kingston is quality ram, but never has overclocked very well at all. GeiL also makes some really nice stuff, although I've personally never clocked on their sticks. Anything else isn't really worth buying IMO.

It's a really shitty card, honestly. A 7600GT owns 2x6800XT in SLI. Essentially a 6800XT is a crippled 6800 Vanilla, so it runs about as well as a 6600GT, which now gets worked by the 7600GS. The nVidia 6 series is pretty much dead, the 6800GS was their last hurrah.
