Hey,
so I'm looking to buy a new monitor. And well, I thought maybe around 250-300$ CAD was good. And well around those prices the one with the highest response time I found wans this one :
http://search.ncix.com/displayproductdetai...anufacture=BENQ
Is that a good choice? (while going through my search of the forum I read that BenQ monitors were good so thats why I checked it).

I have the Acer AL1916ASD and its The Fucking Pwnage, but that BenQ looks like a better value for the price. They pretty much have the same specs, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same exact screen being used in both lol. I got my monitor for $260 USD.
I reccomend buying a monitor from a real store like Best Buy or something (I got mine at Circuit City), so if you happen to get even 1 dead pixel, you can return it for another one on the spot.

The huge dot pitch on that one will give you kind of a pixely image...

You'll find all 19" to have that dot pitch. .294 is only bad if it's on a 17" lol. My images look great, you cant see any pixelation or graininess.

There is a noticeable difference between 2 and 12, but virtually none between 2 and 8.

Oh, I see. Well, Doug, if you got a better suggestion for a 19 inch monitor, please post a link
(from ncix.com) so I can have a CAD price, about actualy buying, ncix is just a reference, I'm probably gonna get it froma real store. I got that covered, I just need to find the monitor before deciding on where I get it from (got a couple of choices). Anyway, if you guys have a better suggestion on 19 inch. Fell free to post. Thanks

Wtf is that? If I don't know what it is, it'suseless, because before I bought my LCD, I did research on them, and nothing of the sort (HDCP) came up. UNLESS that's the ability to take in HDTV signals...but that would be pretty useless, because, as Komet once told me, LCD monitors will not look near as good as regular HDTV because of the contrast ratios (etc.), or the lack thereof.

HDCP is that filtering bullshit / big brother owns you / don't pay attention to it. Buy yourself a nice LCD for Gaming and Computer Uses, that means 8ms, 17 or 19", preferrably 700:1 acceptable at 500:1.
If you want HD movies (like off of TV or something b/c even DVDs make shitty res), buy a fucking HDTV.

It has more to do with than just brightness. Good thing there is those handy little buttons on the monitors and you like, press em and they make the screen go all darker.

Yeah well I dont plan on listening to movies on my comp, I got a friggin TV for that. No, I just want to game and thats it.
So from what I got, what I would need would be :
8ms response time
700:1
19 inch.
Ok, I'll look into it. I'll check back with the results.

Well,
Since the 700:1 we're somewhat hard to find, I put one or two 550:1 to in there. Anyway, there are the ones I came up with :
http://search.ncix.com/displayproductdetai...facture=SAMSUNG
http://search.ncix.com/displayproductdetai...facture=SAMSUNG
http://search.ncix.com/displayproductdetai...anufacture=BENQ
Discuss. (or find a better one if you wish

WOWOWOWO good deal get it. 1:700 4ms and it comes with the dvi AND vga cables.
although, i've never heard of the company before, IMO, the brand really doesn't matter because it's not like a PC component that will make your whole comp fry or whatever. I got some no-name monitor and it's fine.
160$, lol. you could almost get 2 of these for the price of one of those other ones and put it up in dual-monitor mode
