Just wanted to comment on the Xbox being a failure. In my opinion, it was probably anything BUT a failure. Think about it. Microsoft previously had no place whatsoever in the console environment, but they have established themselves quite nicely in your living room. They came into this market knowing they'd be taking losses for quite a while, but that was besides the point to them. Name brand recognition, and being able to set themselves up as a central component of your media center. Now, if you look at the Xbox 360 in terms of it's OVERALL capabilities, it's damn interesting to a connection freak like myself. Being able to EASILY connect and play media stored on your computer through your home entertainment center is one very nice feat IMO. Live is another excellent component that Microsoft has promoted very well, and from what I've heard, is also a great service.

Despite all the hating here, the Xbox has some pretty games in its repetoire that can't be found on any of the other systems. Now, I won't go so far as to saying it's the best, but honestly, I do love my Xbox as much as I love my PC or SNES or any other console I've ever bought.

Sega may have been the first to do online console gaming, but Microsoft is the one that brought it to the mainstream, gotta give credit where it's due.

the reason Nintendo makes profits out of the gamecube its cuz they whore mario and other franchises. They also have less games to compete with on there system. I don't think most nintendo games would do so great if all the pS2 games where on the plateform.

Oh, yeah xbox has great games but mainstream people only know them for crappy games like Halo franchise or some crappy PC port. They had alot of great SNK games on there system .

Despite that Nintendo does whore their IPs like no other, the reason they do that is because they actually make GOOD sequels. We can't exactly say that for other games.

The statement I put in bold doesn't make sense to me. Why the hell would Nintendo games be affected by what other developers did? If anything, that would make the GC a even more valuable system due to the greater amount of content available!

Mainstream... will usually leave a fair bit to be desired. What some of us can hope for is that those that enter from the mainstream will hear of greater games that are a bit harder to find because they aren't mainstream.
... that didn't make too much sense... but there's something there, I swear.

i mean't that sony looses cash because there software doesn't sell as well as it should because of the range of games there is. Sony Releases hit after hit (usally thru 3rd party) meaning people go out and buy more 3rd party games. The top 10 best selling gamecube games where all nintendo accept for 2.. one was sega for Sonic adventure 2 battle, and the other was Star Wars Rouge Squadren 2 or whatever.

THe point is, Nintendo (as of Gamecube) has had way to many dry spots. I think we are going to get to a point where Nintendo systems will be sold just for Nintendo games. It will be a sad day... I mostly play Nintendo games on my Gamecube... I tend not to buy games on gamecube if there on other consoles because the other consoles have more content (online) and not the gamecube.

If i get the revo and ps3/360 i will prob do the same... why pay the same for a game with crappier graphics and doesn't support HD when i can pay the same ammount and get it on a 360 or PS3? I think nintendo has the "controller" but it won't be used for ports really. Meaning it will also play better on 360 or PS3 (witch it will be designed for)

Its happing the same thing that happend witht eh gamecube launch. They Get alright 3rd party support then after 1 year it basicly stops.

We'll see. My guess is that Nintendo will have strong, inventive third party support simply because the development costs for the Revolution will probably be much lower than those involved with the 360/PS3 graphics race; as well as the freedom the controller should provide developers with the ability to make some interesting games, hopefully.

But I mean, even if things don't pan out this way, the relative price points of the 360/PS3/Revolution will probably allow for households to afford both the Revolution AND another console of choice. I'd personally would love to get a PS3 if they play HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray discs for only $600, because that'd be a fucking awesome bargain.... just ignore the fact that I have no tv at my apartment, much less the money to afford a console of any sort.

that is a good point I hadn't realized before... production costs on animators will drop a little, but the added functions of having to deal with the controller will up programming costs a lot, not to mention having AI that has to deal with every little movement, and react accordingly (like the swordfights in red steel (sp?))... and OMG testing would be a bitch... swing controller every concievable direction here... move 2 feet... swing controller every concievable direction... I feel bad for them icon_sad.gif lol...

I don't think so. Nintedo will definitely make some standard librarys which will deal with stuff like that, so the actual device programming needn't be done seperately for every game. Same deal for the DS, theres some nintendo code that lets your game know where you've just touched the screen, so you don't need to figure all that out yourself. Knowing nintendo, they'll proberbly release an amazing programming suite. PS3 devving is being done on Unix as I hear, which is good news. The people I feel most sorry for are the MS devs, I mean, who would want to try figuring out why their console is blue screening for the 140th time? Lol.
