Goodgod's Mod

It's finally done! After hours of work on this project, many cuts and burnt fingers, this mod is over. I started from a standard looking pc with good hardware to a kick-ass look rig (In my opinion, u may not like it icon_smile.gif ) In the next posts i'll show you a couple of steps i did to go throught this mod

Specs:
Athlon 64 4000+ @ 2.4ghz
2X1GB OCZ Platinum 2.5-3-2-5
Evga Sli Mobo
Evga 7800GT
Audigy 2 ZS
LG DVD-RW
Floppy
Coolermaster Cavalier 3 case

First of all, here are some pics of my starting case and old inside case setup:

Case:

Mouse, keyboard and CRT:

Front, open and closed:

PSU wiring:

Inside Case (cable mess):

BTW, My mod photos are all almost lost because all i had was a shitty camera i bought at some drug store, and half of the pics weren't good.

1) Me realizing that that fuckin camera didn't work:

2) I began by cutting 2 80mm holes in the top of my case with a jumping saw (i removed all the components inside before of course icon_razz.gif ) Then it was time to sand the edges with some tools:

3) The same week i was making plans for my side panel with a PP logo window, after some hard work doing the logo well and proportioned, i drawn it on my panel:

Yeah it does, but wait a little, i'm trying to post the rest in the next hour! icon_cool.gif

4) I had done some plans before that, it was like more than a month ago i think:

5) I received some stuff from my orders (some are shown on the picture):
3X Orange UV Reactive 80mm fans w/ quad uv led
Rounded IDE and Floppy Cables UV Red
Sata Cable UV Red
Dual Red Neon Kit w/ Dual Inverter and PCI Switch
2X Vantec Cable Sleeving Kit UV Red
PSU Connectors Changeover Kit UV Red
OEM Slot Protector Kit UV Red
Molex and ATX pins Removal Tools
2X Red LEDs
Sunbeam Rheobus Fan Controller

6) Here the big job begins, the sleeving job. I took me about 10 hours to sleeve only the PSU (me being a hardware noob icon_neutral.gif ):

7) Once done, this looks 100% Kick-ASS, like 3dgameman would say:

It cost me around 175$ CND so far, u beat me icon_biggrin.gif. Ok let's continue this!

9) I did the sleeving job on all the case wires, fans, HSF, Neon Wires, EVERYTHING

10) I painted my fan screws, and fan grills black.

11) Then i modded the front LEDs....Having no knowledge at all in electronics, i was a little worried about it. It took me 2 hours or more to remove those front power and HDD blue LEDs and to replace them by red ones. I cut the wires, stripped them, twisted them around the LED pins, welded the thing, and put some tape on it to make sure that the pins won't touch together. I never been so happy to see those little LEDs light up!

12) Another big step was the finishing job: Installing the cathode kit, inverter, place those sleeved cables well, plus all the fans with some extra wires to reach my fan controller, inverting the LEDs of the fan controller (That made the LEDs turn red at 7v, before it was switching from red to blue at 7v). Now THAT'S cool.

most LEDs have roughly the same power reqirements - since you were just replacing and keeping the circutry the same, you did fine. its nice not to have to calculate resistance required and solder all that crap together

as for the PP window - im so glad u came through with it icon_biggrin.gif i admit when you said "im set on this, though it will take time," i thought you would quickly lose interest. im so glad to be proven wrong. However, will u be using colorless acryllic with red lighting, or red acryllic with high-bright white lighting? if colorless, clear or frosted?

this is so pwnage. nice to see it happening biggrin.gif

EDIT: Perhaps later on down the line some PP fan grills are in order. Not wanting to duplicate the PP logo on the side, perhaps some Jeremy pwning-pose sillouette grills? That would be fun.

More realistically, you have precision cutting equipment. And seeing as how you have an open 5.25'' bay, perhaps you can cut out "I pwn n00bz" or "ubergamer" out of one of them and stick a light behind it. that would be a nice touch

lol It's cool man, I was going to do the same thing when I got some cash, but I gotta do something original. Your case is wicked, it'll pwn even more with the logo.

I don't know what do to with my case, Antec P180, highly moddable (I guess?). Any suggestions?

i was gonna do a clockwork orange theme on my pc... but there isn't any good White cases.. there all usally silver.

it was gonna be White with Orange UV lights and prob a cut out window that had a eye with eye lashes and put the saying somewhere on it "ultra-violence" but just one of the many ideas that floating around in my head. I wanted to do a White/Orange case or White/red.

but i always find Silver and Black......

for fan grills you might want to check out on making a custom one:

thanks, that looks hard, but i will consider it.... two Jeremy silhouette fan grills would be kick-ass. If i had alot of money, i would go for another 7800gt along with a full water cooling kit (high quality powerful and quiet pump, 1X120mm radiator, 1X80mm radiator, northbridge water block, hdd water block, 2XVGA water block, cpu water block, all the tubing in uv red...... my dream) That won't happen because i dont have 800$ to spend on my 3000$ worth pc.

For the -i pwn noobs- carving, it's a kick-ass idea....i need to do that in the next weeks! I don't know what kind of LED or lightning to put behind the plastic slot though.

Id use a 4'' CCFL, or perhaps a lazer LED

Thx for the reply, i think imma get a laser LED and put it behind the plastic 5.25 bay, then stick a piece of clear acrylic there and carv the -i pwn noobs- with some knife, i'll see that later on.

don't think it's been over done, u'll see it when the pp window will be cut (i mean, it's just a windowed case with a red color theme and fan control, it's been modded and not bought like this, that's all)

don't you think it would had a nice finish touch (along with Jeremy Silouhette custom grills, if I ever get some), while being hidden half of the time? (maybe i should do a poll on that question icon_confused.gif )

EDIT: I can try doing it, and if it looks too overdone, i have a spare black plastic thing
