Yeah, it is fun to play with friends... but when you think about it , most of us started gaming on consoles before hitting the PC gaming world anyways... so , consoles are the basic training for gamers. (generalising)

Heyyo,
You shouldn't post comments onna poll, that makes it biased dude.
Anywho, consoles are definately a stepping stone in gaming, most of us move onto the greater world that is PC gaming, but some of us tend to go back every once inna while to console, or some just praise it (like those $box gamers who think Halo2's the greatest game ever..).
I'm not into the console scene anymore, but I will still play some games with me buds if they wanna do some console. Me fav type of console games is sports. And by far, me fav to play is N64's Wayne Gretsky's 3D Hockey.. and 2nd is N64's NBA Hangtime (I need the ball.. lol).

well why not post replies on a poll... i mean the poll comes with the post...not the post with the poll
this will be my one and only post on this forum... and it says:
Consoles are totally n00bzor cuz:
- They can be pwned by 12 year old
- You can not totally micro a console (in other words: the controls suck ass)
- They look like kids toys with the flashy design and shiny colors 'n stuff
- The graphics are always way outdated compared to PC's
- You can not do anything else with a console than to play games (and not read forums for example)
- There are no mod or level edit options on a console
- Consoles are obviously created for the mainstream n00bzors with their stupid annoying propaganda commercials
Although i must admit there are some good things about consoles:
- Your lil sister can play on it without totally wrecking the machine
- When you actually are a kid they can look 'cooler' than such thing as a PC
- They are way cheaper than a PC
- You can start playing a game immediately so you don't have to install a lot of stoff like windows 'n stuff
- Which is another: NO WINDOWS!!! (no other kinda pc os either so no bullshitting around)
- No spyware/adware/virus
- Not everyone is pro so some people are just more fit for a console (=noobs)
Well that's about it concerning my 'expert' opinion on this
I just wanna add this one thing: i know some guys who only play on a PC,
i know some guys who only play on a console and i know people who do both...and i've come to the conclusion that PC gamers are more teh nerds and the console gamers are kinda mental disorientated or something. The guys who do both are called 'mainstream' or 'casual' gamers...

Why post this on a CONSOLE section of the forum? I mean people that come here obviously like consoles.

I'm one of the people that started out with PC gaming and then played a little console on the side. Back in the early days PC games had so much more depth than anything consoles offered. Now I'm just "meh" about the whole thing. I'm not even much of a gamer anymore and the games that I do play and enjoy are on PC. Nothing against consoles since there are lots of fine games on them too (it's the games that define the system, not the hardware) but many of them don't suit my taste or gaming style.

Well, I almost made a poll like this when I was bored, but thought it was kinda dumb and I'd get flamed for being a troll etc etc.
But as someone else has done it, I'm happy to express my views.
Consoles are crap in my eyes. I owned a Sega MegaDrive when I was a n00blet and played sonic and that was cool, but have NEVER EVER wanted a console since. PC games are more real. Crisper resolution. More in-depth. Better multiplayer. Updatable. There are gamer 'communities' with an online PC. I can't get on with consoles at all. I'll play Halo 2 or Super Monkeyball (rofl - awesome) at a party when I'm drunk but that's about it. I can't see how you can 'pwn' on a console. I think gamepads (especially analogue-stick ones, ugh) are the scum of the earth. I'm 99% sure consoles had no bearing on my gaming background and in no way contributed to me playing kick-ass PC games now.
Phew. Glad I got that out of my system.
-den
EDIT: Did you know that Microsoft are working on the concept of 'console style' software for the Wondows Longhorn project? The idea being that you no longer install applications, you just put in a disc and it's run off that. Hmmmmm, I'll take a rain-check on that one.

I prefer consoles. Not gonna bash either pc or consoles. Cuz i also play pc games.
This is how is see it
Consoles - I think they are better for single player games. They do have some really fun multiplayer games, but they are bogged down cuz you gotta pay subscriptions to certain gay services like xbox live and all. There's a bunch of games i'd love to go online on my ps2, but i don't wanna by the modem, and pay a subscription or w/e i gotta do, too much money.
PC - the place for muliplayer. So easily accessible. I still play starcraft on pc every now and then, so many people there. But maybe in the next couple of years, the multiplayer advantage may go to the consoles, considering the nintendo revolutions is gonna be wi-fi out of the box, and so far, it sounds like you won't have to pay to go online. Only time will tell. I will admit that PC games do require alot more skills. There's so much more competition.

how does wi-fi improve online play? thats just a solution for your own home network that won't contribute to the actual service or community. plus wireless is inherently garbage for games since its much slower and unreliable for most games (anything requiring real-time updates like fps). youve obviously never played on live either, its not perfect but its A LOT more secure than PC games where hacks are out almost as soon as a game is released. not only that, live allows developers to patch games and add new content. im mostly a pc gamer but to say that consoles are way behind in multiplayer without even trying whats out there is ignorant.
as for the original question, i think theres no use comparing them for me. i play everything and there are some things in pc that you can't get in console and vice versa. for example, fighting games on console and rts on pc. so for me its a draw
EDIT: just noticed the competition arguement for pc games, www.mlgpro.com, www.shoryuken.com. sorry, theres more competition out there for consoles with the exception of counterstrike and blizz rts.

Put me against any 12 yr old on Soul Calibur 1 or two and I'll destroy them everytime. I think you are confusing ability to play a game and ability to get good at a game. For young one's RPS's and RTS's are a little harder to pick up than console games, but I do not mean that there are no good young players however.

The cool thing about consoles is:-
That everyone has exactly the same verson of the game, the graphics, the controls, the timing, the collision detection is the same, the experience is standardised. Unlike PC games where one PC can play completely differently from one PC the next. Doom3 is a different game on my bro's because he has a better graphics card.
Where this standardised experiece is important is for beat 'em ups, which although most of you lot probably wont like, IMO there is as much micro in beat 'em ups as in RTS's FPS's. Beat 'em ups just dont work on PC's because the pads are often clunky, unwieldly and un responsive. Even playing with a Playstation controller through convertor port on a PC the beat 'em up experiecne is poor, the hardware just doesnt handle the graphics in the same fluid way, there is a hand finished touch to console beat 'em ups.
If you just dont like a game, then that cant be helped but I think it's niave for some who considers themselves a discerning gamer to overlook consoles. Surely it's better to have the best of both worlds.
And all of without mentioning the sheer creativity and love that Japanese developers like Capcom, Konami, Nintendo and Square pour into their games.

Total nonsense. I played Resident Evil 4 for 10 hours straight, I've play EVE online, Planetside and SWG until my eyes nearly fell out. I've been playing games since I was 5 (25 now) Depending on where the best games are at the time I'll play a console or a PC. I play both with equal measure and I am anything but a casual gamer.

PCs are superior in most ways of gameing compared to consoles. But, Consoles always have the classics that you gotta play.

Lets see how good someone can get playing a fighting game with a mouse and keyboard. Or and action "Resident Evil" type of game. Or a sports game. Or a racing game.
PCs are only better for FPS, RTS, and some RPGs. Even then, you have to sit at a desk right in front of a monitor. That can definately kill the "relax and get into it" feel.
And let's not forget about Steel Battalion.

not a big step pc to console.. yeah console you have a controller not mouse and keyboard which is also optional because they make a connector for xbox and ps2 for the keyboard and mouse.
the games are mostly the same.. but my favorite game that did take skill was uc which i started out on with xbox live... uc2 sucks
