Might as well start this:

Cofirmed in form of the beta access for MoH pre-orders.
Frank Gibeau stated:

“Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience, they are united by their underlying technology base – Frostbite. These are two of the hottest shooters, coming together to deliver a one-two punch of action, intensity and shooter entertainment."

The beta will be available to play autumn 2013.
Thoughts?

I am extremely disappointed in DICE and I hope EA makes lots and lots of money off their new Call of Duty series.

*Edit* And the worst part about this

Is Battlefield 3 was made with the NEXT generation of consoles in mind. That means Battlefield 4 probably won't look much better (if that's even possible anyway) and that they're just going to be rushing out what will probably be Battlefield 3.5.

Might as well have released a fucking Bad Company game, at least then I'd know for sure I wouldn't be buying it.

Fuck.

The beta will be available to play this Autumn

Autumn 2013.

http://ca.ign.com/ar...s-battlefield-4

This is the same ~2 year release schedule they did between 2 and 3. Stop being such an ignorant twat Cakecom.

edit: Actually the release schedule for full priced battlefield titles was less than 2 years between 2 and 3. There were 5 released betwen 2005 and 2011.

Heyyo,

I'm disappointed cause I'd rather have just bought BF4 instead of BF3 Premium... BF3 weapons are weird and AntiTank and AntiAir is a joke... I'm sure they might get it right in BF4...

I don't get the hate for BC2 it was a much more balanced game minus the Carl Gustav.. In BF3 the rocket launchers do very low damage to tanks compared to repair speeds (even if you shoot the tracks), the Javlin is also useless due to having to see the middle of the tank for lock on to work and standing out in the open to use it is suicide plus the higher your latency the longer the lock-on seems to take...

If BF4 turns out to be an unbalanced game? I'd rather see a BC3. Right now I kinda wish I never stopped playing BF2 cause that game also was fantastic.

Another concern? Is commander going to be back in BF4? Commander was fantastic and I miss it terribly so cause a good commander could turn the tide in desperate moments like a tank barreling down on your poor infantry..

I feel this was way too soon to even mention a BF4 beta. BF3 hasn't even been out that long and is on it's 2nd expansion only..

Stop being such an ignorant twat Cakecom.

Stop being a whiny bitch way2lazy2care.

This is way, WAY too short for a Battlefield 4. There's literally NO POINT.

If it was a total change in setting (like the difference between BF1942, BF:Vietnam and BF2 had) then kk it's cool. There's a reason to have a short distance of time between release dates- people want variety in their games. That's why nobody complained about Battlefield Vietnam coming out 2 years after 1942 and then BF2 doing the same. Because all 3 games had totally different settings + gameplay mechanics.

But if Battlefield 4 is going to be the direct sequel to Battlefield 3 in the same way Battlefield 3 was the direct sequel to BF2, then there is no point. There's no way the technology they have is much better (Frostbite 2 was made with the NEXT generation of consoles in mind, so I highly doubt the technology is much different) and nobody liked the singleplayer. Anything that can/would be balanced in the next game could have that effort put into a BF3 expansion and sold in a few months.

They still haven't even delivered on promises directly given to the Battlefield 3 community like the Battlerecorder.

Fuck DICE and fuck EA.

Also, it's not that Bad Company and Bad Company 2 are bad games. I just never tried them, and never will try any of the games in that series.

If they released BF4 and it's exactly like BF3 but without the single player and adding mod support I'd buy it. SRS. I would pretty much just pay an extra $60 to play Project Reality on the Frostbite engine....eventually...

adding mod support I'd buy it

Dice SAYS they want to add mod support but even if this was true there'd be 2 problems

1. It doesn't make EA money
2. Legally they can't give away any modding tools for the Frostbite engine. They don't own all the rights to it or something, because it's made by combining a bunch of different engines or someshit and they only have permission to create their own content with it, not the permission to give away permission to create content for it. Something like that as far as I'm aware.

But Dice doesn't want to add mod support. Why would they? Wouldn't help them in any way, if anything it would lead to loss in sales for expansions.

It's a longer distance of time than any other full Battlefield title in the past 7 years.

As your whole argument hinges on it being too soon, and the length of time is greater than the length of time between all of their previous releases; your argument is either ignorant or stupid. I chose the lesser of the two, but if you'd prefer to be stupid to ignorant be my guest.

To give you a comparison, the first game to launch with UE3 was gears. In 3 years they had added a new lighting system, crowd simulation, soft body physics, destructible environments, and iOS support.

Do you think they just made the engine then went on vacation for 5 years?

Cool story bro.

Again, the reason noone argued about past Battlefield releases being so close to each other is the huge gap in features between games, the huge gap in technology or the huge gap in setting. I'm not counting Bad Company games.

EA announces BF4's BETA will be out a full two years after BF3, and CakeCum flips his shit?

~30 months between sequels is too frequent now?

Well, regardless of whether you think their release schedule is good/ethical or not, it's still (most likely) going to require Origin.

I've managed to restrain myself and stick to my initial resolve of not purchasing Origin games, even though it means I missed BF3 and ME3. /self back-patting

Yeah DICE made the excuse that their Engine is too complicated for Modders, rather than saying that right away.

This also.

But I thought that was bs. There are some extremely intelligent modders.

@Way2, not a fuck given. Your opinion matters less than Kazaii to me (still not less than OS, on the right track there tho bud) and that's pretty hard to accomplish.

Grats on being able to restrain yourself. Admittedly, although I think EA should be wiped off the face of the planet I would have a hard time not playing their games because of Origin.

That's why I just stick to console for now icon_biggrin.gif.

I love you, but not for your opinion.

On a scale of 1-10, I can't tell if you're serious half the time ('cept in this thread where I'm fairly certain you're being serious) so I'd prolly give you a 5.

Way2 would be like a 2 and OS would be in the negative cuz he's a fucking cuntbag.

Spiri7 would have been at like a 5 when he was playing CoD.

Now he's at like an 8.

I'd personally be like a 6 (if I wasn't me) and someone like Rak might be like a 7.

But since my opinion would be a 6, my opinion on people's opinions isn't the best.

That's fine. I don't really counter your arguments to prove anything to you. I just counter them to make sure nobody else is infected with your idiocy on the off chance anybody thinks you have any credible knowledge about game development or software engineering in general.

This is actually the exact reason I stopped listening to your opinion.

You act like you know something about everything.

And you defend EA :/.

*Edit*

And while I don't know much about software engineering (almost nothing), I've learned quite a bit about game design and I also know quite a bit about marketing and I also know quite a bit how to run a business ethically vs unethically.

EA's been one of the most unethical video gaming publishers there is (others being Activision and Bethesda w/ New Vegas) and while I totally understand why you defend them like the piece of shit you are, I just fucking hate that you act like you know everything about everything and how you act like EA's never done a thing wrong.
