ive got 4 drives in 0+1, but my raid controller is causing problems (its built into the mobo and the mobo is starting to do weird shit to various parts of the computer)... im going to be buying an external enclosure for the whole raid array but i can't find one that supports 0+1. however, ive found a few that do 1+0. so, can i switch successfully?

The enclosure would read metadata differently (metadata is the data on the disk which tells the RAID controller what RAID array it's in) so if you moved the drives to a RAID enclosure they wouldn't register as an array.
Your best bet is to get an external drive then move all the data from the RAID array to the external drive then figure out what you want to do.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
