I was watching some PP today and "World of Warcraft is a feeling" Began playing and I remembered all the Vanilla WoW times.
(Vanilla means original)
Whenever a person or another player asks me what it was like back then I usually answer by saying
"Back in those times, kittens and puppies ran free and everybody got to play together and swim in rivers of chocolate with jellybean rainbows and party in Goldshire every night packs of level 10s would just dance and get drunk together crack jokes even sometimes horde would join in!"
True story
Anyone have any similar experiences back then?

So she's like "Go to school" and stuff, and I'm like "I school people all day long" ya know? So I told her I'll take her to school, since she wants to go to school so bad... And she doesn't think that's funny!

yeah I sure do. one of my favourite PP episodes too. the first time i completed my tier set in 2005 was pretty amazing. tbc was good too with the introduction of ranked pvp etc. I miss the good old times with WoW, when it was fun ;(

I eventually spent most of my time jumping off iron forge or running noobs through instances with my 55 AOE mage because I was too lazy to actually level up to 60.

Nah, i didn't play till BC.
Had a friend that i completely lost to Vanilla WoW though.
He was in the best guild on the server, Warrior tank, Had his full set of gear (w/e it was) and had a full set of.....i think it was the shaman gear as well. Used to wear it on his warrior just to piss noobys off.
I think he does drugs now.

If this was true, I'd probably be doing drugs by Cataclysm too.
What he'd achieved took a lot of time + dedication.
These days it takes a month to get fully geared.

I miss the social raid progression, I do not miss the grinding for 40 years, randoms who couldn't bash 5 buttons, staying out of the fire, guild drama, recruitment, organising raids, having no social life etc...
That game has really gone to shit, the most fun I had playing it was reaching max level and then doing all the old Vanilla raids in a breeze.

Yea. I feel like people don't realize how much more work you had to put into WoW when it was launched.

Well of course, that's because the people growing up and playing video games these days don't have to learn or put work into anything. They just get the big "Help" button showing up in their
UI every 5 minutes and they have a tour guide holding their hand the entire way through.
talking about every game made in like past 5 years btw

Video games aren't games so much anymore as they are interactive movies. :\

I'm glad I read your post before quoting above and writing almost exactly what you just wrote.
They are blurring the lines between gaming and entertainment. It has less to do with skill and more to do with how powerful your computer is, oh, money!

It's true. We were like....besties growing up. We lived in the same neighborhood, i was more into the fps thing still (even back then).
I think he was getting into drugs by WotLK.
He was one of those guys that the game just clicked for. He led his guild through end game content, (this is in WotLK now) taught the other warriors in his guild his rotation, pvped like a mad man, then they kicked him out of the guild. It was some bullshit.

Oh how I miss the days of vanilla.
Those times were truly great. I'll never forget starting my very first Night Elf, running around Teldrassil. The music brings back such fond memories. I remember back then when I had like 10 gold and felt like the richest person in the game, lol. Damn.

Oh god, giving me memories of when I used to play WoW at the local cyber cafe (just so I could LAN with friends).
I remember there was some really fat ass nerd who also played there + who played in our realm, offered me 50 gold for $5 and was so tempted to take it because it sounded like I'd be a millionaire back then... but I needed the $5 for McDonalds.
Childhood memories ftw.
Also used to LAN 1.6 back then... DEM MEMORIES

Even in like early TBC 50g was a lot for a new player. I remember some guy in my random leveling guild lent me like 40 gold for my first mount and I never payed him back even though I said I would. ROFL
