'World of Scriptcraft', apparently, has scripted all game mechanics to function just as Vanilla wow.

You just don't read, CakeCum.

Majority of private servers are just untouched other than instant 60 and building nonsense places and zones.

This server has been scripted to run exactly like original WoW, including mechanics.

Hunters never sucked... They were fine and then got patched into uberness. Mages got pretty shafted after being powerful in beta. They were nerfed by launch, and were one of the last classes to get a rework.

Despite their shortcomings AOE farming is still one of the funnest things to do in WoW.

I never played WoW because I didn't like that you had to put so much time into the game to be "good" (as depicted in the original PP series ;) ). However I did play the trail for a while and I can understand how it can capture the imagination of such a large audience. The atmosphere that game created was absolutely amazing.

It's hard to believe the original WoW is coming up on 10 years somewhere around this time next year.

yeah I sure do. one of my favourite PP episodes too. the first time i completed my tier set in 2005 was pretty amazing. tbc was good too with the introduction of ranked pvp etc. I miss the good old times with WoW, when it was fun ;(

I have good memories of vanilla also. I created my account on November 18 2005 5:06am PST.

Back then I was on Twisting Nether and at first I didn't like the game much. Having played FPS almost exclusively I looked down on WoW and didn't think that I'd play it for more than the month included in the box. But once I got back from visiting friends in Melbourne I continued playing and I got addicted. So bad like Jeremy did on the show. But even worse. I didn't eat or hardly sleep. WoW was my life for 3 & 1/2 years. It got so bad that I referred to money as gold and it was at that point that I started to realize how much the game had affected me.

But I loved it. It was so epic. I had never played such a game before and I got completely immersed in it. It was the best game I've ever played. No other game drew me into the world as it did. I was amazed at how detailed the world was. I experienced everything it had to offer. Questing, dungeons, raiding and PvP. When I got the first piece of my Dreadmist I was so excited. I went to the top of the bank in Org and danced there for a bit! And later on when I got my full Felheart set I was really ecstatic! Once I discovered PvP I started to abandon questing, raiding, etc. I didn't really like all that grinding stuff anyway. So I spent most of my time in BGs. Then when arenas were added in BC I was so happy. That I did nothing but for a good year and a half or so. I loved it so much. At first there were only skirmishes and no ranked matches. It was so fun. And pwning Alliance noobs at Crossroads that attacked time and time again was so fun. And the guild battles at Blackrock Mountain, more specifically MC were sooo good! And going to Ashenvale and attacking the Alliance town there and every other Alliance town was sooo fun. Then the spontaneous world PvP! Oh man those were the times. Now when you go to the old world areas they're barren wastelands. You might see the occasional lowbie which is most likely an alt being leveled but other than that it seems like a single player game at those times.

I miss vanilla too. It would be great to have an official vanilla server from blizzard. I played to level 47 on the private vanilla server rebirth back in 2012 and really enjoyed it, but I had to stop because it was affecting my college grades. It was a grind but it was still fun.

I remember... Teldrassil, Dolanaar, Darnassus. Then Auberdine, Ashenvale and venturing carelessly across the Barons to Tousand Needles and not swimming to the Shimmering Flats. Then the shiny sands of Tanaris blinding me after I got my new graphics card (Gforce 2 to Gforce6600). After this I visited Jurassic Park Un-Goro Grater and got a quest from somewhere which lead my ass to Azshara. It was at this point which I'd stopped playing for a while, I couldn't afford it really and I desperately wanted to get back on.

I made a Night Elf Priest, inspired directly by Teh_Pwnerer. Cooler hair though, I didn't like his choice xD

I leveled all the way to 48 and was comletely immeresed/ obsessed the whole time. My ex (haha) still reminds me of how I was so into that game..

The thing is, back then I had no idea what I was doing and I loved every second of it. I didn't even know PvP was even a thing really, even though I used to Duel my paladin RL friend and lose every time. I didn't know what I was supposed to do, I just kept healing and throwing smite and starshards at him (I miss that spell so much). The best part of the game was definitely the wonderment. With no idea what to do and where to do but to guess and hope for the best only to be finally presented with Darnassus' impressive music after weeks of messing around in Teldrassil and going back to Shadowglen for safety was mind blowing, MIND. BLOWING.

When I found the Auction House right, I spent hours looking at everything! So amazed by the damn shoulder armor that I made it a mad fashion of my own, I didn't know I was supposed to buy for stats but instead I went for looks and only up until about level 38 did someone complain at me for wearing what he knew was low level gear. Still, I never had anyone die on me in a dungeon that wasn't the tanks fault (tee hee). I used to just sit and chill in places, in Auberdine and Ashenvale mainly, clear an area of bears and sit at one of their huts and drink morning glory dew. I discovered then all the WoW fan music and to this day Cranius holds a very special place in my heart. The WoW movies too, Zinwrath! Escape from Orgimmar! Illegal Danish! Super Snacks!! All by the same people mind you but I was SO IMPRESSED.

I met some really nice people, had a great time in the guild but I mostly just did my own thing unless someone needed a healer for a dungeon :)

I could tell you all so much about this. But actually the point was already made about todays WoW "We had no idea what we were doing, it was all a mystery". These days we know exactly what the score is and unfortunately we know for fact that if our gear isn't good enough then we can't win. I want to beat people in PvP! My warlock is awesome right now, but it's all about the skill and the pressure is HIGH. It's not easy that's for sure, yea leveling is faster and your hand is pretty much held during quests these days but the PvP is something else completely. I gotta say it's been massivly improved with the addition of Ashran and the pre-made group finder. Useful as hell considering there aren't enough people online anymore :(

Blizz know this, and they are defnintely not appealing very much to new players of their original target audience 14-18+ year olds. They're tyhinking of everyone who has children, who want to play WoW and not bore the kids while they're sat on their knees or w/e watching their dad play. With the new more "user-friendly" system I guess it makes it more entertaining for kids to watch. People with short attention spans and wanna be spoon-fed.

The armor looks incredible these days too. I'm still very impressed with the old stuff though, I transmog it all to look like TBC Warlock gear, but more recently Transed to a very priest-looking set to have fun confusing a few people :)
