Something like that really. If Bioware can pull off SWTOR well enough, I'm sure they can get to grips with C&C.

Completely different genres are completely different. That's like saying "Since Bethesda pulled off Skyrim well enough, I'm sure they can get to grips with a Counter-strike sequel!"

I'm not that worried that Bioware is doing it. A couple of things that are worth noting before dismissing them is that they have grown a lot in size in just the past half a decade. It's likely that many of the people working on CNC will have more experience away from RPGs than they have making Bioware games. They expanded fairly aggressively prior to being bought by EA, and I believe EA has continued their expansion (no source other than word of mouth and job hunting last year). They have nearly 1000 employees and 6 studios.

Second, Bioware really hasn't made I game I'd call bad. Sure they tend to work rpgs into their games, but the ME games cross well into shooter and they did a good job of that in 2 and it looks just as good as 3. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are locked to a genre. Honestly I'd rather Bioware work on it rather than a different EA studio (maybe DICE excepted, but I'd put them in the same boat as Bioware) or a small indy studio, which were really the only options as EA owns the rights.

They have the size and a history of quality that at least buys them a pass till I see gameplay tbh.

edit: looking into it more, it looks like it's actually a studio that EA founded specifically to take over CnC. They were working on CnC and then were folded into the Bioware brand afterward. So yea, most of the developers have probably never even worked on a bioware game previous to this.

Seems the Bioware division who is assigned to the game is the team who made CnC3 and RA3.

I have faith that Bioware will be able to pull it off. As long as the hold true to what Generals was I think they'll do just fine, even if they haven't made an RTS. In all honesty it can't be worse than CnC 4, that game literally could not have gone any farther from what CnC is without being an FPS or some shit.
