Anybody else up watching it?

Never played dota but i've been playing a lot of LoL lately. So i'm very interested in switching over when it comes out to the public.

Not getting a good impression here. Games been lagging out like a mother fucker since the start. Who holds a tourney with 1 million usd prize and doesn't fucking make sure there's no connection issues?

It went down. Players were complaining about lag and then 5 minutes later the shit just froze up completely.

And ya i agree. They apparently should have had a fucking beta first lololol

It's back up now btw. I can't tell if they all reconnected somehow, or if the game has been going on, just without the stream.

I noticed, tbh i just closed the stream. It's boring the fuck out of me and the constant lag isn't helping.

Why didn't they use a fucking LAN?

League of legends announced a 5million dollar tournament shortly afterwards. They just wanted to upshow valve. Not exactly the most classy move, but it got peoples attention.

Its just too bad tournament prizes are so high for such a mediocre game/"esport".

I watched most of the Dota tournament and I have to say it looked a lot less fun as well. So many global teleports, and I don't like the fact that the turrets do practically no damage.

Warning long explanation will be long.

I first started playing LoL. Obviously because it was free, immediately got addicted, and have basically been playing nothing but it ever sense.

Somewhere between when i started and now i started reading up on other mobas. I wasn't going to presume without reason that LoL was the best one, and didn't want my efforts to be wasted on a shitty game. Found out that a lot of features have been stripped from LoL. Denying, you don't lose gold when you die, you don't have to buy your characters in most other mobas. in dota you have to pay to teleport back. Whilst I don't completely disagree with the reasons a lot of these things were removed from LoL for, i liked the sound of the other games better.

Found out about HoN. Most people were claiming it was literally just a dota re-make. All fine and dandy but i didn't want to pay for it. It's free now this is true. But it adopted a similar style to LoL where i would have to play to earn points to buy the characters that i want. With so much time invested into LoL already i figured i would just keep playing that. Not to mention i just couldn't get into it.

Eventually, (not sure how long after trying out hon, but it was pretty quick afterward) i heard about dota 2.

It seems like the perfect choice. Read up on it, developed by valve, so you know it will have great support. As of right now all of the hero stats are imported directly from the original dota (or at least that's what i've read). So balance wont be any more of an issue that it was in dota, there will also be tons of material on it so it should be easy enough for me to learn. It will likely have an instant community.not to mention all of the features that lack from LoL.

With all of that in mind it will actually make it worth it for me to buy it. Which means i'll instantly have access to all the characters, and there wont be any more runes or mastery's to worry about.

not to mention it will at least temporarily steal a large portion of the player base from LoL and HoN, i see no reason to not give it a try. The worst case scenario is that i don't like it and have to go back to LoL. Oh no, i'm out 60$ qq.

HoN will for sure.
But not so much LoL.
