I was thinking of a Saitek Eclipse II but was wondering if there was anything people had that they liked better.
Price range would be around $60 give or take whatever. any suggestions are fine though. thank you

I had one of those. I never appreciated how good it was until I replaced it.

I somewhat disagree, but not from a personal perspective. My wifey uses a fancy Logitech KB,and she loves it. She said it aids her immensly,as far as macros and a few other things. She only plays WOW btw.
IMO,the keyboard and price, coincide with your activites.

Or you know ... You can just setup your own macros. That works too..

Crypton,
I have been using that exact same keyboard for a few years now. It's GREAT.
I recommended it to my friend about 2 years ago, and now he has been using it. It's a good sturdy keyboard with 3 colors and dimmer.
Only complaint: The lighting isn't as bright as I expected, but it is still enough to see your keys in the dark.
There is also an eclipse III.. but I don't know about that

Love how the resident tough guy is happy to talk trash on an internet forum but back pedals as soon as he is called out. Typical coward. No doubt he'll respond to this with excessive bravado in order to restore his rightful place as a fully fledged internet badass.

but mechanical keyboards are sweet
although considered a "gaming keyboard", the razer blackwidow (basic, non-backlit) is actually one of the cheapest cherry mx blue switch boards on the market at 80$.
If you want to wait, elitekeyboards.com has discontinued their filco distribution and is going to be stocking leopold mechanical tenkeyless boards.
But if you dont need a mechanical keyboard, certain computer stores have their own stock keyboards for 5-10$. Also microsoft wired 500.

Still using my poor beat up microsoft wired 500
. That really is all you need. I don't flame anyone who wants a gaming keyboard because they do look sweet (key word is look)
Honestly though I've been tempted by razer keyboards in the past, but I could never justify the purchase.

I use a lycosa at the moment (cuz i like the short keys - kinda quiet in comparison to other keyboards) but I'll be switching to my BlackWidow soon
- Tested it; the mechanical switches are really something to look at for the experienced computer user. (Rather a typical user probably can't tell the difference)

i got a logitech illuminated keyboard. it was important to me that i could see keys in the dark and its fairly quiet which means i could use it while GF sleeps. to me, it was worth it...but these men make very valid points for most people

DAS KEYBOARD
It doesn't need to be illuminated because there isn't anything on it.
There was one M$ keyboard that I heard of that was super highly recommended (don't think it was the one already mentioned), but I can't remember it. I'll update this when I find it, but it is also very cheap.

I know it was one of the microsoft ergonomic keyboards, but I can't remember which. If I had to guess I'd say the natural 4000? but it's not mechanical, so it has that going against it.
It seems like people generally think the M$ natural 4000 with mechanical switches would be the perfect keyboard. Unfortunately this does not exist

I have a Saitek Eclipse II, typing on it right now.
For the money, I thought it was pretty good.
I use the media keys alot with WinAmp (once you enable it within the options tab), and the back-lit keys are a nice touch when you're doing late night gaming and can't be bothered to turn the light on (hah).
Another cool thing is, a while back I accidentally dropped my keyboard from some height when re-arranging stuff on my desk and it consequently snapped the back raisers. I had to put my wallet there (of an equal height) whenever I wanted to type.
I sent an e-mail to Saitek asking if they had any spare, and they sent them out no questions asked for free, so I didn't have a crippled keyboard forevar
Do eet.
Or if you're poor, go for one of the Microsoft ones.

I donno if it's just me or not but I have an eclipse keyboard and I can't really make out the keys with the back lighting. So I never have it turned on anymore.
