Well I know there's a fair few of you Tetris fans here so I thought i'd post this.

Heard about it quite a while back and i've been looking for updates on it since, they've finally released more info and also a release of December 2010 (though no specific date so it should be anytime now!)

There's also no pricing yet and though I expect it won't be too cheap, i'm willing to put out a bit of dosh for it. I'm guessing it'll be somewhere around £7.99, maybe more?

I shouldn't really even get it since i've messed my hands up so bad playing Tetris but i'm just too tempted! I'm mostly looking forward to the 2P battle mode so if anyones else is interested let me know, perhaps we can have a few games.

Have a read of this article if you will, it's got a tad bit of info of what to expect.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Electronic Arts Inc., (NASDAQ:ERTS) and Blue Planet Software, Inc., the company that manages the exclusive licensing rights to the Tetris® brand, today announced the release of Tetris for PlayStation®Network (PSN). Millions of players worldwide on Sony PlayStation® 3 systems will now have the opportunity to download and play the game with crisp 1080p high-definition (HD) graphics, high-quality 5.1 surround sound audio, and all-new ways to play including online against other Tetris players from around the globe. The Tetris game is one of the best-selling games of all time, with more than 100 million paid mobile downloads.

In addition to stellar audio and visual qualities, Tetris players can now play online or locally with up to six friends in all-new game modes. For those that play well with others, “Shared” mode enables two players to team-up in a single matrix to combine efforts and clear lines together. On the other end of the spectrum, “Team Battle” is the ultimate competitive match-up that allows two teams of two to play against one another, alternating between offense and defense as they compete for the win. Even the well-known “Battle” mode has been enhanced with new Power-Ups for more fast-paced fun.

And long-time Tetris fans need not worry, as Tetris for PSN also includes the famous “Marathon” mode. But for a new twist, now multiplayer games let up to four players locally play “Marathon” mode at the same time. Also included is the new “Challenge” mode, which allows players playing “Marathon” mode or any of the 12 variants to try to beat “replays” of either friends or some of the best Tetris players in the world. Additionally, players can see how they stack up to the best Tetris players internationally by checking out worldwide and regional leader boards, which are refreshed weekly. Assets and additional press information on Tetris for PSN can be found at http://info.ea.com.

PIXELS! PIXELS! PIXELS IN HD! YAY! (I mean come on... Testris is tetris... Why does it need an HD Remix and a story line?)

I bet you 10 dollars it will cost 10 dollars to buy this on PS3... Seriously this is some funny stuff...

But it is nice to see one game that will NEVER DIE no matter how much you've played it.

because the tetris relies so intently on having an optical audio out?

protip, HDMI is a better audio output than optical audio.

But then you need either a TV that has multi audio outs or an HDMI hub. So HDMI fail? icon_razz.gif

Go away.

Old tetris is old. But still awesome. 2 copies is plenty though... one for the DS, and Tetris Splash that I've had for 360 for what feels like years.

why the hell would you need multiple HDMI outs on your tv? and almost every receiver has an HDMI out anyway.

The most usual method to hook it up is Player->receiver->tv, and no HDMI in receiver doesn't have an HDMI out.

Optical audio out on the other hand doesn't support all of the formats that HDMI supports and cannot do 7.1 audio from blu-ray. Depending on the blu-ray it may not even do 5.1 and be stuck doing 2.1.

use the google machine so you don't look like a retard.

I didn't say multiple HDMI outs. I said HDMI Hub (1 HDMI in and out with audio outs for separate speakers.)

HDMi doesn't go to each speaker. That would be retarded. Speaker wire goes to the speaker. Why the hell would you send the 7.1 signal to each speaker?

HDMI goes to the receiver just like optical, then speaker wire goes to the speakers just like optical. If you have an optical wire going to each speaker you are a fucking retard.

Ok W2L.... HDMI goes into hub. On the hub it has one HDMI out. Then it has outputs for separate speakers marked accordingly: Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right, Center Left, Center Right, Center Front. Each speaker has its own wires. Tada HDMI hub. All you need for 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound is a hub. You can buy stand alone speakers to plug into the hub as long as they have the same acceptable input. I know this because I own one. Each audio out looks like RGB inputs.

Why don't you use your telecommunication hub to go to the searchamafier and look up what an "HDMI hub" is actually called

it's called a fucking receiver. No wonder I had no idea what you were talking about. You still need a receiver for optical out.
