From the looks of the gameplay videos: Hold down w+mouse1. You should do fine.
Edit: Unless it's for console, in which case every other participant should be within the age bracket of 12-15 ... You dont even need know how to play and you still should be fine.

I'd agree with you if you said WaW instead of MW2. Despite being similar games, they play differently in subtle ways.

From what I've played so far it actually seems... sorta slower paced then MW2. Less random explosions atm. Prob cause no one has money/lvl yet but ya.
Depends on the rules really. If there's all the equipment and perks allowed then I'd research up on them as you don't need to be a certain level to use items for split/lan. Just so you know whats being called out.
But yea, as tree said. Aim and shoot.
And just play any cod game for practice.
